Excursion Outline

Natural wonders so amazing you’re almost guaranteed that you’ll forget how to operate your camera. Truly, this experience is unlike any other and it will leave you dumbfounded with beauty. Because of that we’ll make sure you have ample time photographing ice bubbles. The first visit will be instruction based so that you have the tools and know what to look for in regard to composing strong images. You’ll appreciate several visits to the bubbles because each time you’ll find your footing and increase the quality of your compositions.

This workshop itinerary was created from decades of return trips to this majestic land. We included the distance between both Banff and Jasper to ensure that we see the breathtaking locations the Canadian Rockies have to offer. The weather changes rapidly in the mountains and we’ll be sure to do our best to get you to the right locations for the best light.

Banff and Jasper is one of Keith and Tiffany's favorite places in the world to guide guests. Tiffany grew up in Northern Alberta and was fortunate to have Banff and Jasper as her playground.

Banff was first settled in the 1880's after the transcontinental railway was built through the Bow Valley and quickly became a favorite of travelers with it's majestic peaks and natural hot springs on the side of Sulphur Mountain. As unchanging as the landscape is the desire for fellow travelers to experience the magic and mystery awaiting you in the Canadian Rockies.

EXPERIENCEBEGINNER - ADVANCED

Our excursions are beneficial for both the beginner and seasoned photographer. All guests will experience one-on-one instruction, with the emphasis being on the individual's strengths and desires.

ACTIVITYMODERATE

Most of the locations we have scheduled will be within the ability of anyone who is in moderate shape. Although a long hike will be necessary to arrive at some locations, the trails are not trecherous. In some cases, snowshoes will be required.

TERRAINMOUNTAINS - CANYON - LAKES

The Canadian Rockies offers other worldly scenery that includes ice bubbles, snowcovered peaks, frozen canyons and waterfalls, and mountain glaciers.

GROUP SIZE8 GUESTS

We believe group size is important for the ability to provide as much one-on-one instruction in the field as necessary.

They are an outstanding husband and wife team, and work very well together teaching and helping their clients understand and improve their photography skills. I HIGHLY recommend you sign up for a photography workshop with Keith and Tiffany. You will not regret that choice!!

Itinerary

All locations and times visited will be determined by the conditions given. All elements are watched closely for the best photographic and learning experience.

Bonus Session

We've listened to our guests and have implemented something that has been hugely beneficial in our time together. Each workshop group will be invited to a live, recorded, online critique and post processing session, a short time after the workshop. This makes way for more shooting in the field and the option to learn from the comfort of your home and the ability to refer to the recorded session for future reference.

Day One
It's day one and we can't wait to get started on our adventure with you! We’ll meet and greet at the hotel as a group in the afternoon then head out to grab dinner together. Food is a great way to get to know each other! Afterwards, we'll head out into the wilderness where we’ll cover camera settings, composition and guidelines to photographing the mountains. This time in the field will be the foundation for the rest of our time together. After dinner we’ll jump right into the wonder by photographing the ice bubbles, weather permitting. By the end of this first evening, you’ll be fully knowledgeable of our “in field workflow”. Our focus for day one is to make sure you're fully equipped for the entire week.

Day Two
Sunrise is later in January, but we’ll be up and waiting for it to rise. We'll photograph into the day and stop for lunch. Because we have a later start time, we’ll only have a short break mid day for food and grabbing dinner that we can bring along with us. The afternoon shooting locations will bleed into sunset and we’ll head back to the hotels after blue hour.

Day Three
Up for sunrise, and out the door we’ll shoot and chase the light together. After lunch we’ll head for a hike to photograph frozen waterfalls and the beauty of the snowy peaks. After a short afternoon break, we'll grab dinner together and then we'll head back out for our sunset session where we'll watch the sun set and then photograph the blue hour.

Day Four
Transfer day! Today we’ll move from Canmore to Lake Louise. By positioning ourselves in Lake Louise we’ll be close to the majestic Icefields Parkway. There’s numerous places to stop and photograph along this gorgeous stretch of highway. Numerous trips will be made to Abraham Lake for the ice bubbles while based in Lake Louise.

Day Five
Sunrise for day five will look much like the other days. We’ll be out and photographing in a location that is best suited for the weather that day. You should expect a good amount of driving on this workshop as the distances from each location are quite far apart.

Day Six
Our beautiful sunrise location will leave you breathless. We’ll enjoy our last full day together positioning ourselves in the best locations for the best light. By this time you’ll feel proficient and confident in shooting the gorgeous ice bubbles and the ice formations found in this beautiful part of the world.

Day Seven
On our last day together we will end our time together by photographing sunrise and we’ll be back at the hotel in time to check out. Depending on the current travel requirements, we will also allot time for Covid testing to re-enter your home country.
