Join us as we enter into the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, world renown landscapes, and artistic culture.

Join the Photography Workshop Company on a culturally immersive photography adventure in one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the world. During this seven day tour, we will explore all that the Italian countryside has to offer!

This All-Inclusive workshop is a first for The Photography Workshop Company, and has been intentionally designed to not only provide exceptional photographic opportunities, but for our guests to become fully immersed in the culture. We believe that your artistic creativity will scale to new heights when you are equipped with the knowledge and experience of what life is like for the Toscani people. Cultural experiences include rolling pasta, home-cooked meals, and staying in a 17th Century Villa. In addition, we will be guided by a local, because we know that nobody knows the hidden gems like locals do.

Group Size
12 People

We believe group size is important for the ability to provide as much one-on-one instruction in the field as necessary. Due to the help from locals on this trip, our group size will be six guests per instructor.

All locations and times visited will be determined by the conditions given. All elements are watched closely for the best photographic and learning experience. This workshop has a flexible itinerary, which will allow us to adapt to the conditions to help you make the most of your time in Italy.

Bonus Session
We've listened to our guests and have implemented something that has been hugely beneficial in our time together. Each workshop group will be invited to a live, recorded, online critique and post processing session, a short time after the workshop. This makes way for more shooting in the field and the option to learn from the comfort of your home and the ability to refer to the recorded session for future reference.
Day One
You’ll arrive in Italy and make your way via train to Poggio alle Trese. Upon arrival, you'll be met and transported to the 17th century Villa where a warm welcome will be waiting for you. Our leisuraly evening will include an overview of the workshop. Immediatly following, our hosts will provide aperitivo. Apéritivo is arguebly one of the most beloved Italian rituals. Aperitivo is meant to "prepare" your stomach for the awaiting meal ahead. You'll then enjoy your first of many authentic, home cooked meals with a welcome dinner.
Day Two
We will capture our first sunrise over the Tuscan landscape by photographing countyside lanes, olive groves, and vineyards. We'll return to the Villa for a leisurly authentic Italian lunch provided by our hostess. Our afternoon photography session will include historic roads, vineyards and our day will end with exlcusive access to a private property to capturing sunset. Following our full day of photography, we will return to the Villa for Aperitivo and dinner at the villa.
Day Three
On day three, we will spend the morning in Montalcino photographing a historic abbey dating to the 12th century. Our drive there will award us with spectacular views of the green Tuscan hills and isolated farmhouses scattered throughout the countryside. We will then be guided by our local photographer through the vineyards of Brunello and end our morning in a small village framed with surrounding vineyards.

If there's one thing you'll quickly learn about Italian culture is that they take great pride in their food and each meal isn't to be rushed. We'll enjoy lunch at Sant Angelo followed by time for you to explore and roam the streets of medieva Montepulciano. Awaiting for you within the town are ancient churches, town squares and hidden corners. You'll also discover vast panoramas of the famous Val d'Orcia and Val di Chiana valleys.

We'll pick up our evening session and capture the iconic rooftops of the town and capturing the Italian Renaissance architecutre at its finest with a temple dating between 1518 and 1548. On one wall you can still see a fresco of Madonna and Child that was believed by the locals to have miraculous powers.
Our busy day will find us returning to the villa for another Aperitivo experience and a delicious meal awaiting us.
Day Four
Arguebly one of the most beautiful places in Tuscany will be awaiting our arrival on this exciting day. We'll travel to Val d'Orcia and there you will find all the iconic locations waiting for you to capture. The farmhouses and cypress lanes are a symbol of Tuscany and ample time will be spent capturing them.

We will spend time in the beautiful town of San Quirico which was an important pilgrimage route to Rome in ancient times. While there, we will also capture the historic Cappella Vitaletta from a distance.

You'll be on your own for lunch in San Quirico, and you'll also have the opportunity to stroll the streets at your leisure and we'd encourage you to start up a conversation with a local.

During mid-day we'll return to the villa and meet to review our experiences thus far along with an image review to discuss how we can enhance our photographic opportunties.
Sunset will find us returning to the surrounding countryside lanes, olive groves and vineyards. We'll also once again enjoy exclusive access to a private property for sunset.
Aperitivo and dinner will follow at the villa.
Day Five
Our day will begin by photographing Castiglione del Lago, a medieval town surrounded by ancient walls and an outstanding view of Lake Trasimeno and Valdichiana. What once used to be an island has expanded over the centuries with piazzas, houses, churches and other buildings. The centro storico (historical center) is a well preserved medieval square that will transport you back into time.

For lunch, we will return to the villa followed by our afternoon session caputring the nearby towns and villages of Città della Pieve, Cetona, and Chiusi. Chiusi is a quiet town that dates back to the Etruscan empire around the 7th and 5th centuries BC. In addition the remarkable city sits above a maze of tunnels left by the Etruscan people. Be sure to find yourself a cappuccion at an outdoor bar during our excusion.
Perhaps one of our most anticipated meals will be authentic Italian pizza at Pino's, a local favorite.
Day Six
It goes without saying that we won't be able to get enough of Val d'Orcia and all it's iconic locations. We'll return to the countryside to photograph countryside estates, beautiful Montichello from a dsitance, and the Torre Tarugi (a tower located on a hill). Iconic to Tuscany are the beautiful hot springs of Bagno Vignoni. We'll stop for a visit this picture perfect location where you will also be on your own for lunch.

Our afternoon locations will include Castiglione d’Orcia and it's surrounding rolling hills. We'll then return to the villa for Aperivito and dinner.
Day Seven
An exciting day awaits as we head to Pienza in the province of Siena to photograph Gladiator trail, and position ourselves for a beautiful view of Pienza.
We'll spend midday strolling through the city of Pienza and you'll enjoy lunch on your own in town.

We'll then return to the villa and spend the afternoon capturing olive groves and vineyards along with susnet at a private property.
Our final meal will be a celebratory aperitivo and farewell dinner. We feel quite confident that by this time the villa will feel like home, and our hostess like family.

Day Eight
Our hostess will transport us to the nearby train station of Chiusi-Chianciano where you can catch your train to Florence or Rome. You may look at extending your trip by a couple days to explore one of these remarkable cities on your own before returning home.
